Acupuncture

Dr. Holland is a certified veterinary acupuncturist (CVA), having received training through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). Dr. Powers received her training through the Chi Institute.

Acupuncture is an ancient technique where very fine needles are placed in specific points in the body to help decrease pain, heal injuries, stimulate the immune system and decrease anxiety. This technique has been shown to increase blood and lymphatic flow to tissues, stimulate nerve function and increase the release of natural pain relieving chemicals.

Dr. Holland and the staff at Adel Vet Clinic have been extremely impressed with the amazing effects of acupuncture. We have seen a major decreases in pain, increased mobility, invigorated health and improved energy.

Acupucture can treat many conditions including musculoskeletal conditions (arthirits, spinal disk disease, trauma, muscle atrophy), immune system disorders (chronic allergic diseases, immune diseases), neurologic problems (nerve injury, paralysis) and systemic diseases such as chronic kidney disease, liver disease, urinary incontinence and bladder problems.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Initial appointments will include a thorough exam and the first acupuncture treatment

Length of treatment depends on the condition and pet comfort, but is usually around 15-25 minutes

Results can be immediate, but often take between 3-6 treatments.

Some of our greatest success stories are feline patients that are getting pain relief after just one treatment; and enjoying it! Many are even sleeping through the treatments!

Dr. Holland is happy to work with referring veterinarians to coordinate the best patient care, integrating both conventional and alternative modalities.
