Owner / Veterinarian
Dr. Elizabeth Holland graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008 where she was named the top graduate in small animal medicine. After graduation, she joined the team at Adel Veterinary Clinic under the leadership of Dr Pat Rohret.
Dr. Holland enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine including nutrition, preventative medicine and surgery. She has a special fondness for cats and enjoys helping them learn to enjoy (or at least not despise!) their annual visits to the veterinary clinic. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and is excited to offer this and other holistic healing services at the clinic.
In 2015, Dr. Holland became the clinic owner and has been working diligently to continue the tradition of first class medicine and small town charm by becoming a Fear Free and Cat Friendly Practice as well as working to update the boarding facility to meet these priorities.
Outside of work, Dr. Holland enjoys gardening, hiking, reading, Cubs baseball and spending time with family. Dr. Holland and her husband live in Adel with their cats, Hairball and Tush; geckos Gertrude and Indy; and sons, Keaton, Sullivan and Lewis.
Dr. Holland is involved in the Adel Chamber, a member of the Adel Community Visioning steering committee and a member of the Executive Board and Small Animal Committee for the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Scott Beeman graduated with honors from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Beeman enjoys small animal internal medicine, surgery, and preventive medicine. He is passionate about creating a fear-free environment for your pets, as well as preserving and enriching the human-animal bond.
Dr. Beeman and his wife, Sheryl, live in Adel with their children, Theodore, Elliott, and Annabel; their dog, Arthur; and their cats, Ginny and Walter. Dr. Beeman enjoys playing and listening to music, camping, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Dr. Lisa Kilgore grew up on a farm in Bloomfield, Nebraska. During Dr. Kilgore's childhood, she raised 4-H rabbits for 10 years and won several showmanships and best of show at the Knox County Fair.
Dr. Kilgore attended Iowa State University and majored in Animal Science and Dairy Science with a minor in Emerging Global Diseases. She then graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013.
Dr. Kilgore is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, Iowa Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Kilgore's husband Andy is a Des Moines police officer and a member of the Iowa National Guard. They have one daughter, Evangeline Grace. Their family also includes fur children: 2 cats (Majik Max Kitty Von Kitterson and Loki Bane) and 1 dog, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (Thor). The Kilgore's will be moving to Adel this fall!
Dr. Kilgore's interests include reading, gardening, cooking/baking, history, movies, and traveling and enjoying the outdoors. Dr. Kilgore's interests include medicine related cases and seeing exotic animals.
Dr. Kilgore's favorite thing about being a veterinarian is having a role in the human-animal bond. She enjoys watching a client's new puppy or kitten grow up and being apart of keeping that life healthy and thriving. She enjoys making human connections and being surrounded by people who love animals.
Dr. Rohret was kind enough to save me after I had an unfortunate mishap with a wood pile at 8 weeks of age. I have spent my entire life trying to get the humans here at AVC organized, but as all humans do, they seldom listen. I like to nap on the break room chairs, pick out my favorite co-workers to rub on, and will become very vocal should the 8am and 4pm hours pass and no one has fed me. Thanks for visiting our site!
Sara has been in the veterinary field since 1996. Starting out as a receptionist, she was then a tech for 9 years before moving into management.
Sara lives in rural Adel with her two Welsh Springer Spaniels Kendyl and Saylor.

Come back soon for Chere's bio!
I have been part of the weekend kennel staff since 2008. It's a great part time job for me because I have no pets of my own! I thoroughly enjoy getting to love and snuggle your pets on the weekends I work. I've often wanted to take a client's dog home to share my afternoon nap with!
My full time job is taking care of Dr. Holland's three boys. I live in Adel, I have two daughters and two grandsons. In my spare time I watch too much tv, sew occasionally, and I like paper crafting.
